111 Fluid Form Model Images

For my form, I tried to incorporate both the vertical features of Mena's work and the horizontal features in Crovello's work. The form had to include both fluid curves as well as a linear aspect. Using rhino plastic and thread i created plastic strips of varying sizes and used thread the sew them in curving layers on top of one-another. This was difficult given the thin nature of the thread and the sturdiness of the plastic. I used white thread to connect the two halves i had created and to make the stitches more subtle. After the basic form was created I went in, using white thread again, and sewed curving lines in between the plastic layer. I did this as a way of incorporating the curves as well as lots of thin delicate lines (like the ones in Mena's photo.) I like the effect it creates, with having just a single delicate line in the negative space in the form. Next I used black thread to create a single vertical line down the center of the form. I wanted a contrast again the white colours in the rest of the model. I think this black thread also balances the other threaded lines and creates more of an unusual feature, whilst creating the linear aspect of my model.

Here are some images of my final model: (the 1st and 4th images were my final chosen two)
