112 Storyboard

This is the storyboard for my part B interim hand-in. These are the sequence of shots I plan to use in my short-film. I intend to make it seem like a short advertisement, this will mean my film should be relatively short and straight to the point. As noted on my storyboard, I still need to work on a complementing colour scheme throughout my ad and the music I will use. I also need to create the logos for my ad and re-create my screenshots on photoshop rather than by hand.

112 Shot ideas

Below is a list of shots I intend to film by camera using a person. These shots will be included in my short-film to show human interaction with the app. I have decided to try and style my short-film to be like an advertisement; mainly showing the application and features and a few shots showing someone using it and interacting with the environment that the programme was designed for.

112 Written Explanation

Sabine Pollak

My interactive application was designed to be very easy to use and visually aesthetic. This program was designed with first year students in mind but could be helpful for any students looking to find their way around the campus –especially at the beginning of the year. The whole design of the progam has plain black backgrounds with instructions illuminated in yellow. There is a limited colour palette, which highlights the different options and contrasts against the black. Further into the application, options are colour-coded to show different shades of the same groups e.g. if Cotton building is green, then so are the levels inside that building.
To use the application: firstly, the user takes a photo of their surroundings, which then comes up in the campus database. The user’s photo is matched to their correct location in the university. The next screen shows a circle map with the most popular first –year buildings for lectures in bigger circles and less popular in smaller circles. As the application is used more, the user’s most frequented buildings become the more popular ones –in bigger circles. The next screen shows the options to choose the level that the lecture theatre is on. After this, the circle map is repeated in a co-ordinating colour to the building where the user chooses the lecture theatre room. In order to get there, options appear so the user can choose the kind of route to get there e.g. inside if its raining.  After this the route is then highlighted in yellow on a simple floor plan map. As the user walks through the route, their position is highlighted and zoomed in as to give the user a clearer idea of where they are in relation to the map.

112 Flash of Application

I managed to change the labels of each keyframe so that they corresponded to the instance name which fixed the problem and then deleted the 2nd code for each action so that it wasn't duplicated. I wanted to give my application a hand-drawn, simple look that was easy to use and visually pleasing while being something that I myself would actually use.

112 Flash problems

Having difficulties with Flash application as the functions keep duplicating or are on the wrong level meaning the action function cant find the information for the action. I am trying to solve this problem by renaming and uploading as my flash application has a simple click-through format
